CASE STUDIES
UNITED STEEL
Requirement: A one-way system, removal of vehicle queues on the main road and control of vehicles entering and leaving the loading area.
Solution: Installing a GSM intercom and a Bionik6 barrier with a safety induction loop at the far end of a large vehicle holding area, allowed drivers to enter the site, park their vehicle and announce their arrival before being granted access to the loading area via the automatically closing barrier.
A Bionik8 barrier was installed at the exit point, preventing vehicles from entering the site from the wrong direction. A set of control buttons, including a free exit override switch, was installed in the office, allowing staff to control the exit barrier and carry out random inspections of vehicles prior to leaving the site.
VISY
Requirement: A health and safety compliance for the prevention of forklift trucks and pallet truck operators using the same area at the same time.
Solution: Installing two Bionik4 barriers with lattice skirts, one at either end of the common area, with a set of control buttons fitted to the pallet truck entry barrier only. When the pallet truck barrier is operated and is in the open position the forklift truck barrier is locked closed and prevents entry to the common area. The barrier for the forklift truck operator is automatically opened only when the common area has been vacated and the pallet truck barrier has been closed.
GWF & TIP TOP
Requirement: A health and safety compliance for these sister sites to prevent vehicles from entering the loading/unloading area whilst the forklift truck was in operation.
Solution: Installing a Bionik6 at the entry point to the loading bay prevent vehicles from entering the area. The forklift truck operator is responsible for the area; installing remote control and a set of pushbuttons on the barrier cabinet allows the forklift truck operator to control the barrier locally and whilst insight of the barrier.
